Biography
Shannon M. Ellison, Esq., is a Junior Partner in the Tampa office and is a member of the nursing home and assisted living defense practice team. Shannon has experience litigating matters involving nursing home defense practice, including all aspects of case management, from pre-suit through trial and including arbitration and post-trial matters. She also handles wrongful death and medical malpractice matters. Shannon has significant criminal and civil trial experience having tried over 100 cases to jury verdict.
After graduating from law school, Shannon served as an Assistant State Attorney at the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office, where she was Lead Trial Attorney from 2013 to 2019. At the State Attorney’s Office, Shannon prosecuted felony offenses, including homicide cases. Shannon transitioned to private practice where she defended nursing homes, wrongful death and medical malpractice matters.
Shannon began her career as an RN when she graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1992, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After working as an RN for several years, Shannon earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1998. Shannon is admitted in Florida (2000).
Shannon is a member of the Hillsborough Association of Women’s Lawyers and the Hillsborough Bar Association. She also provides pro bono services to Bay Area Legal Services.
